A Divine Crescendo

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion... over all the earth...

Genesis 1:26 (RSV)

We often forget to think about the importance God gives us and the authority He has given us over His creation. We are so preoccupied with our own desires and problems that we neglect the purpose He has given us to achieve for His glory and our fulfillment. Your task is much more than what you look at each day. You limit yourself to your needs, that is why you lose sight of your purpose.

When we read Genesis 1, we see the repetition, “And God said…” and what He said happens every time. God created the universe with the words of His mouth, but when it came time to create man, in verse 26, there was a crescendo that took place in the act of creation. God was about to create the masterpiece that would finalize His creation. But, there had to be divine deliberation. God needed the heavenly council to create man, so He said, “Let us make man.” Meaning that man was important to His kingdom.

God was not creating man like all other creatures, He was going to create a being in His image and likeness, the being that would bear His glory throughout the earth and have authority over all things. This is the crescendo of creation. You are of much greater value to God than the things you see. The circumstances of life cannot make you less valuable. Do not be discouraged by circumstances, but align yourself with God’s plan and He will elevate you to the level of His glory.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
