For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:29 (KJV)
One of the questions Christians often ask is, “What is God’s plan for my life?” Not only do they ask questions, but they also seek to find the answer themselves. And when they find nothing, they begin to interpret what they see or hear into an explanation that they think might be God's plan or will for their life.
The Bible gives us the exact answer to our question, God's plan is to bring us to be conformed to the image of His Son. This is not a decision God made after our conversion, He predestined us to be like Jesus long before we were born. If you have therefore made the decision to become a disciple of Christ, it is because God had already placed the seal of salvation on you. He made the choice to save you and gave you the Holy Spirit to convict you of sin and regenerate you.
If you look at your life only from a natural or physical perspective, you will never understand God's plan because life's circumstances will convince you otherwise. But if by faith, as Paul says, you walk in the Spirit, you will understand that these circumstances are there to help you know God better and grow in a deep relationship with Him. If you want to please God, walk in the footsteps of Christ, so you will accomplish the works he accomplished in his earthly ministry.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
