Beyond Our Needs

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

We often see in God a servant who is there to serve us and meet all our needs, whatever they may be. We forget that he is the God of all eternity, who created us for his glory. By our selfish attitude, we act differently from what He expects of us. Some believers go even further by rejecting His grace and His love because they didn't get what they spent hours, days, even months praying for.

God's promise will never change, no matter what our attitude toward Him. Nothing we can do or think will end what He has planned to do for us. However, we must recognize that he owes us nothing at all. It is we who owe him our gratitude and our adoration for having granted us salvation in his son and made us his people.

Everything he does for you and me, he did it by grace. Not because we had accomplished anything. Let us be grateful and offer our lives to him as a fragrant perfume for the sacrifice of the cross and the assurance of his salvation rather than expecting him to meet only our physical needs.

May the grace of God be upon you.

All I knew about God was what my leaders taught me. What I learned for years was always the same: God will give me this, he will give me that, he will raise me up, he will give me strenght, he will bless me. But no one ever told me that I have to live in obedience. Faith was always a way to convince him to give me more. As christians, it is not our fault if it is so difficult to unlearn what has been taught to us for an upgrade. Thanks a lot for this message.

I'm totally agree with you. I was there too until one day I heard a pastor saying that the only way to please God is to meditate and obey his word otherwise we will never fully enjoy his blessing. Since then I started to study the bible. It's hard but you can. He will help you if you want to know him with all your heart.
