Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14 (NKJV)
Prayer is something that can only be learned through practice. You may have read several books on prayer, but they can only give you ideas and guidelines. If you do not begin to develop an attitude of prayer yourself, you will not understand the impact and power of prayer in your life. Through your constancy, the Holy Spirit will help you live the experience and joy of prayer.
When you stop seeing prayer as a daily burden that you must unload so as not to feel guilty, you will discover that the time of prayer is a precious moment of communication with your heavenly Father. You will feel His presence at your side and, at times, it is He who will put on your heart the desire of what you must ask Him in your prayers. It is this dimension, once reached, that will give you confidence when we pray, knowing that you are in connection with God.
When you reach this level of confidence in prayer, you will no longer pay attention to time or your pressing activities because spending time in the presence of God in prayer will become your priority. You will even create a special time each day to converse with God. The teaching “Pray without ceasing” from 1 Thessalonians 5:17 will become your slogan and your weapon of war. Have confidence in prayer and you will see God move in your daily life.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
