But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
This is a verse that many of us like to use when thinking about our needs. We have this assurance that God knows our daily needs even before we have time to address them to Him. Although we rejoice in the fact that all good things come from God, it is important to understand this verse in its context and discover why Paul gave this great promise of abundant supply.
Often what we ask of God is not always what we really need. We ask what others have or what can draw their attention to us. So when we ask or pray for inappropriate things that may be in our hearts, the Holy Spirit intervenes in our prayers to translate them into God's will.
Today, when we look at all the situations we face, we have the right to wonder if we will get through them. But when we think about God's promises, we don't worry, because God always provides and always makes our situations right. You and I have God, our Father, who is able to provide for all our needs. Our only objective is therefore to trust Him in all circumstances, nothing else.
