Emergency Prayer

The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.

Psalm 25:14 (NIV)

Living in an apartment for the elderly, the caretaker, a young Christian woman, devoted a lot of time to prayer. She always prayed very early in the morning and in the evening before going to bed. One morning, her neighbor, an old man, came to see her to ask her if she had never received an answer to her prayers because he realized that she always cried while praying most of the time. The young woman answered him that her prayers were not a list of requests addressed to God to satisfy her personal needs but rather her gratitude and love towards God for having always taken care of her. The old man laughed at her.

A week later, the old man came to knock on the caretaker's door to ask her to intercede on his behalf with God to forgive him because his doctor had just told him that he had cancer. The girl offered to come back the next day at 6 o'clock, but the old man wanted her to do it immediately. For him it was an urgent need.

Sometimes, like the old man, we mock those who spend time praying and we wait to encounter difficulties to put pressure on God so that He answers us immediately. So, when we enter His presence, it is always with a list of urgent requests that cannot wait. Do not enter the presence of God with emergency prayers, He knows what you need, what He expects from you is that you always give yourself time to thank Him for His grace

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
