For they all wanted to make us afraid, thinking, “Their hands will become weak and the work will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.
Nehemiah 6:9 (NLV)
A young accountant had applied for a position as a senior accountant in a financial control firm. Seeing that he was the general director's favorite, one of his colleagues, not wanting him to be promoted to this position and becoming his superior, decided to tarnish his reputation by spreading lies about him. When the young man found out, instead of defending himself to save his honor, he chose to give up this position. Due to his wise attitude, the management promoted him to this position.
We often face this type of situation where our intention is good, but someone around us, wanting to discredit us, finds something false to say about us. It is not always easy to put up with such an attitude, whether from a friend or a stranger, especially when you know it is false. The best attitude to adopt is that of Nehemiah who, instead of fighting against the enemy, preferred to call on God to strengthen him.
Hearing this erroneous information about himself, Nehemiah, having God's confirmation to build the wall, could pray that God would pour out his wrath on his enemies. But he chose to reveal the reason for their lie and ask God to support him in carrying out His will. When you are falsely accused of something you are not guilty of, do not worry about what the adversary says, but turn to God for guidance and strength.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
