But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
God is saying that His grace was all that Paul truly needed and also that He would give him the grace. Paul chose to take glory in his feebleness, his moments of pain and weakness because it was in those moments God was really magnified. Paul never operated on his own strength because his strength could never keep him going.
God will not have us stand on our own strength. He would have us rely on Him alone. God would deprive us of anything in ourselves that would boast of our own might in the life He has called us to. Rather than be upset with God, Paul used the opportunity to praise God and boast in Christ alone. Paul's wisdom was great because he knew that he could not boast of any of his achievements because it was through Christ that he achieved or attained anything.
No matter what you and I are facing and no matter what tests and trials we may be required to face, we have God's full assurance that His grace is sufficient for all eventualities that may come our way.
How wonderful to receive the grace of God. We need nothing else because His is enough.
May God bless you all!
Most of christians don't make the difference between Grace and Blessing. They talk about grace only when they see something happens in the natural, like having a new job, get a promotion, buying a new car or even getting married. They don't see it through everyday life. When you go to sickness and still God gives you strenght and joy to support it, that's what I call Grace. Very good point. Thank you.
Amen
