I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Psalm 16:8 (NIV)
Some Christians should be able to admit that they have this tendency to be self-oriented. Whatever they do, they seek their own interests or personal satisfactions first. They always find a way to justify their attitude. They even go so far as to interpret and use Bible verses to cover them. The Bible is not to support what we want to do but to reveal to us what we must do according to the heart of God.
Indeed, the one who obeys and lives according to the word, the one who renews his spirit with the truth of God, will always ask himself what attitude to have before each situation of his life. He will first seek the interest of others rather than his own. He will apply the teaching of the word in everything he does, because his primary goal is to please God. Such an attitude is what proves the spiritual maturity of a Christian.
Today I encourage you to follow David's example and be like him. He fixes his eyes on God, on his commandments, without turning left or right because he knows that when he stays on the path of God, seeking the interest of others, he will not waver.
