Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.
Job 2:13 (NIV)
Often, when we are going through difficult situations, we need a friend to comfort us, encourage us and, if necessary, guide us. But unfortunately, sometimes we cannot find these friends to support us in our suffering. Instead of encouraging us, he condemns us and reminds us of our sins, telling us that our situation is the result of our sins.
During his devastating experience, Job was distressed. He had lost his children, his servants, his livestock, everything he had. He suffered from painful sores all over his body. In order to comfort him, his friends unknowingly blamed him indirectly by trying to convince him that his distress was the consequence of his sin against God. It's true that they were quite understanding at first, but the turn of the conversation changed everything.
Like Job, you probably need someone to comfort you in your situation. Even if no one around you can help you, you have someone who sees you in your suffering, who listens to you and who can intervene for you. The best thing you can do is talk to him directly. Jesus is able to relieve you of your suffering. Don't be afraid, trust him because he has the solution.
May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
