Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 55:22 (NIV)
When David wrote Psalm 55, he was going through a very difficult time in his life. He was oppressed by his enemies, his soul was agitated and troubled within him to the point of wanting to flee as far away as possible. Like David, we often encounter these kinds of situations that make us anxious and distressed, and when this happens to us, we want to run away from everyone to find peace and serenity.
David knew that running away would not solve his problem, so, by faith, he turned to God and cried out, “Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” It is important to note that David does not say that God will remove the burden that weighs on you, but rather that He will sustain you. What he does not say is that God already knows that we will face difficulties in this life. Which means that in your situation, God will give you the strength you will need to overcome it by faith.
If you are facing difficult circumstances like David’s, do not let yourself become anxious, stressed and discouraged. Whatever situation you are facing, instead of carrying the burden of stress and anxiety that it brings, do as David did, cast them on the Lord in prayer and He will sustain you until the final victory. When God makes a promise, He always keeps it.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
