The Right Way

Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair?

Ezekiel 18:25 (NKJV)

This passage presents us with a loving God, pleading with His people whom He loves. Although the nature of His plea suggests that He wants to punish Israel for their sins, if we analyze Ezekiel's words in depth we will see that it is rather a warning to the people of the consequences to come if they refuse to repent of their sins. God tends more to save those He loves than to punish them.

However, instead of accepting and confessing their iniquities, the people of Israel preferred to place the blame on God, accusing Him of His injustice towards them. A way of hiding their sin and continuing to live as if God was the cause of their situation. This is the attitude of those who refuse to abandon the sin to which they are attached. When consequences come their way, they always find a reason to blame God for punishing them unjustly.

Above all, don’t think that God stops loving you when He punishes you. His punishments are always temporal and not eternal. His goal is to save your soul and bring you closer to Him. When God forgives, He immediately forgets the sins of the one He forgave. But one thing He cares most about is that we turn from our evil ways and turn to Him with a sincere heart. If through the prophets He reminded His people that His way was right, today you and I have the apostles who took it upon themselves to remind us of it.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all
