The Ultimate Love

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13 (ESV)

I remember witnessing the rewarding scene of a mother hen protecting her chicks. They occupied a place where they had to be moved to place work equipment. Opening her wings to protect her little chicks, this mother hen was ready to do anything to protect them from the danger that threatened them. People threw rocks at her to force her to move, but as long as her little ones weren't safe, she wasn't ready to give up. She was so attached to her chicks that he would die to save them.

The lesson I learned from this incident is that if a mother hen who has no moral conscience like us humans can love her chicks like this, how much more God loves us even more to the point of giving His son on the cross for us. These words of Christ should touch us deeply. Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross for you and me. Do you know what his sacrifice really means? This means that God is committed to saving us from the judgment that awaited us.

Jesus could have considered himself the son of God and decided to forgo this sacrifice and avoid all this suffering, especially after being rejected by his own people. But, out of love for us, He chose to appease the father's anger by giving himself as a sacrifice. As a result, our sins are forgiven and we have the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ. How many times have you taken the time to reflect on the true meaning of this sacrifice?

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
