Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
John 3:5 (NIV)
When we come to Jesus, we always think it is good to come with all our lusts, our faults, our pride, our preconceived ideas about God, our desires to be flattered and lifted up by others, hoping that He will will thus accept, knowing that he is a compassionate and tolerant God. This is exactly where many of us fail in our walk with God.
We are not the only ones to make this mistake. Nicodemus, a Pharisee, who knew the law, who had all the knowledge of the rituals imposed by God in the old testament, wanted to be accepted as he was by Jesus Christ when he came to see him in the middle of the night. But, without any reserve, Jesus revealed to him that his external piety, and all his attachment to the requirements of the law of Moses could not make him enter the kingdom of God.
When Jesus Christ told him that he must be born of water and the spirit, what He was telling him was to give up his carnal lusts and his pride to be revered by the people and to be guided by the Holy Spirit to be admitted into the kingdom of God.
If you want to be guided by the Holy Spirit to live according to God's heart, apply this message to your life today. Leave behind everything that prevents you from fully living the life that God offers you in His Son. It is then you will be the child according to the heart of God.
May the grace of God be upon you.
Amen
