Now, therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel.
1 Chronicles 17:7 (NASB1995)
For one reason or another, some Christians think they are too low on the social ladder to be called and appointed by God to do great things. They have no explanation for such a thought, but they believe in it so much that they limit themselves to a life of resignation, saying: Who am I to be the chosen one of God?
The Bible is full of examples of men and women to whom God has entrusted great responsibilities. David is one of them. Besides him, we have Moses, Gideon, Ruth, Isaiah, to name a few. Do you think you do not have the qualifications to be appointed by God or do you think your parents were too poor to now hold a high position in society, read the story of Moses and Gideon, you will get an idea .
Understand that, socially and financially, David did not have the qualifications to become king of Israel. But God decided otherwise. From his position as shepherd, he becomes king. Notice that after being anointed to be king, he did not rise up against Saul to take his place, he waited for God's timing. But in the meantime, God prepared and qualified him to fulfill his calling. If God has chosen you to bear His name among His people, it is not up to you to decide whether He has done well or not, humble yourself under His mighty hand and He will exalt you in His time.
May the grace of God be with you all.
