Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)
One of the common mistakes men make in marriage is trying to guess what their wife likes or doesn't like. Some husbands even take the time to observe their wives' choices or what catches their attention when they could simply ask. While they search for the answer, their wives wait for them to come directly to them. We all show this same attitude toward God in our relationship with Him.
Sometimes, desperately, we all want to know what God wants us to do or decide in certain situations in our lives. We try to guess, we use everything we see to interpret it as an act of God or a sign of approval from Him. When prayer gives us nothing, we turn to a spiritual leader, hoping he or she will have the answer. Why not go directly to God and clearly ask Him to tell us what to do and make His answer obvious to us. He loves it when you come to Him to talk to Him.
More often than not, when we are stuck, we need to step into God's word and let the Holy Spirit reveal to us what our eyes cannot see and our ears cannot hear. Sometimes, like David, we must delight in the Lord by first seeking His will, having faith in Him. When God is silent that doesn't mean He doesn't see us or doesn't want to respond, sometimes He is silent to see how much we trust Him to give us the desires of our heart.
May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
