Why Wait?

Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by Him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

2 Peter 3:14 (ESV)

Most of the time, when it comes to waiting, people always become impatient and anxious. If the delay is too long, they try to find another way to get the result they are waiting for. But what they don’t know is that they can’t force time and circumstances to work in their favor and grant them what they want. It’s the same with God, we can be as impatient as we want, but He will always have the final say when it comes to the waiting time.

When God makes us wait, it is always for a reason. We may not know or understand the reason at the very beginning, but we will always come to understand that the waiting time was worth it, because God never does anything without a reason. This is exactly what Peter is teaching here. The things he mentions are all that he has just related in the previous verses from which he concludes for his listeners that all this is so that we can have time to find ourselves without spot and blameless.

Peter is clear on one thing, that is that being without spot and blameless, and at peace is something that we must work at with all our strength and with all our heart. This is why he insists on the fact that we must apply ourselves to find ourselves through Him (Christ). This does not mean that we must do it alone, we must ask for the help of God, through the Holy Spirit, to help us achieve this goal. If you do not know why you must wait because you are too impatient, know that God is doing great things in your life. He is giving you time to realize it and to welcome them with faith and assurance.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
