Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Matthew 6:27 (NABRE)
When you sit on a swing, you can have as much fun as you can because it gives you pleasure. But no matter how far you can swing back and forth or how much force you can exert to fly higher, it will never get you anywhere. You will stay in the same place, doing the same thing over and over again. The only result you will get from all this is fatigue.
Like this swing that makes us exert great efforts without ever moving forward, the pressure of today's world gives us many reasons to worry and be anxious. The more we worry, the more we try to get out of it without ever going any further. No matter what means we use, we always end up in the same place, doing the same thing. Sometimes, we even sink deeper into our situation.
We spend so much time thinking about what we did wrong, what we can do to get better, what we will do when things get better, that we become despaired along the way. Your worry will not prolong your life to give you time. However, there is a solution to your situation: God’s promise to care for you in the midst of your life’s circumstances. Jesus tells us that worry will not add one cubit to our lives. So stop worrying and give your cares to God who will surely deliver you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
